Ladies, Yeh Rahe 6 Pro Tips You Should Know Before Shopping For Bras

We get it. Shopping for bras can be tricky. It certainly doesn’t help that there’s a wide variety of styles and designs out there to choose from, making the entire process overwhelming. If the thought of bra shopping fills you with dread, here are some pro tips to help you overcome the overwhelming feelings and breeze through your shopping experience. Let’s get started!

In collaboration with The Channel 46, Vasanth Sampath, Co-Founder of Tailor & Circus, shares 6 valuable tips to keep in mind while stepping out for bra shopping.

    1. Measure. Measure. Measure.

Finding the perfect bra begins with a measuring tape. Before you hit the stores, it’s important to measure yourself and pick a size that enables you to move around comfortably and breathe easily. To do so, ensure the measuring tape is not too tight or too loose. This will also help you get rid of those annoying bulges and gaps that show up between your chest and your bra.

    2. Fit Matters

Fit is definitely everything when it comes to bras. A well-fitted bra should not be overly tight or loose. When trying on a new bra, here are some key things you should look out for:

    • You must have sufficient space to slide two fingers underneath your band.
    • If you’re shopping for underwired bras, make sure the underwire lies flat against your chest.
    • Your bra straps should sit comfortably on your shoulders without digging into them or slipping off.

    3. Style is Everything

Push-up bras, sports bras, balconette bras…the list goes on! With a myriad of styles available in the market today, it’s essential to understand which style complements you the best. One of the best ways to do this is to identify your breast shape and explore different styles to find the ones that suit your body. For certain body types, a plunge bra might offer a more flattering look, while for others a non-wired bralette might be more flattering. Remember, there may be slight variations in sizing when you try different bra styles so make sure you explore a size above and below your regular size to see what suits you perfectly.

    4. Explore Bralettes

With no pesky underwire or pads, bralettes are must-haves for a comfortable, fuss-free lifestyle.

Do you dread wearing an uncomfortable bra all day? Why not opt for bralettes instead? With no pesky underwire or pads, bralettes are must-haves for a comfortable, fuss-free lifestyle. They are often softer and more lightweight than regular bras – this means unrestricted movement at all times.

    5. Pay Attention To The Materials Used

Natural and breathable fabrics like cotton are a great option for long-lasting comfort.

When lingerie shopping for bras, it’s also important to be mindful of the materials that go behind making them. After all, the material impacts comfort, hygiene, and durability. Choosing bras made from high-quality materials will ensure that they fit well and feel good on you. Natural and breathable fabrics like cotton are a great option for long-lasting comfort. Another sustainable fabric that has been gaining traction is Beechwood MicroModal, which is lighter, provides more gentle softness than cotton, and enhances breathability. It’s known for premium softness and long-lasting durability, even after multiple washes. What’s more, it feels extremely light and airy on your skin AKA the perfect summer fabric.

6.Know How to Care for Your Bras

Improper care leads to a risk of stretching your innerwear, ruining its fit and colour, or worse, tearing it down.

It might appear easy to simply toss your bras into the washing machine with the rest of your laundry. However, the technicalities are a bit more particular than that. Improper care leads to a risk of stretching your innerwear, ruining its fit and colour, or worse, tearing it down. Always remember to read your bra label’s instructions for how to wash it. After all, the manufacturer knows the best about the technicalities of the fabric, fit, and colour. Certain delicate fabrics like lace and silk can only be washed in cold water. In contrast, sturdier fabrics can be washed in lukewarm temperatures, depending on the label instructions. Remember, continued exposure to warm water and washes in the machine can cause the elastic to stretch out. To dry your bras, it’s best to air dry them. You can lay them flat on a surface or hang them on a clothesline. Recheck label instructions before popping your bras into the dryer. Tumble drying is notoriously bad as it wrings and stretches innerwear out.

At the end of the day, what you wear on the inside matters too. Your underwear has the power to bring out the best in you and it’s important that you make an informed decision when investing in the right bra. We hope this helpful guide makes bra shopping a lot less intimidating!
