Bebo, as she’s fondly known, is a true Bollywood gem and the uncrowned princess of tinsel town. Born into Hindi cinema’s iconic family, she got married to an equally illustrious Nawab Saif Ali Khan. Her envious figure, glowing skin and flawless beauty are absolute inspirations for many. A mother of two boys, Taimur and Jeh, she has rocked every avatar of her life with grace and poise. On Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s 41st birthday, TC46 brings you a list of the top 5 things she ranks high on.
1. The Fitness Journey
TC46 interviewed celebrity yoga guru Payal Gidwani who has worked with Kareena. She said, “My first milestone that I would say would be Kareena Kapoor Khan. She was my first client. When I got to her, her first reaction was, “I hate yoga, I think yoga is very slow and it is very boring.” So I asked her to try it and that would be a good start-off. She said, “I want to lose weight but I have been doing a lot of gymming, exercising, and other stuff but never yoga. And everyone has been saying yoga is very happening so I want to try it.” She did it exactly for a month and after that, she said, “You know, I don’t think yoga is me and I don’t want to do it.” We said our goodbyes but just after three months, she called me back and said, “Payal, I think let’s start it again and I would like to give it a shot again.” I said, “You have to be consistent and let’s see how it goes.” Ever since that day, she has been hooked on yoga. I think she vouches for yoga and everybody can see that. It’s become her lifestyle. So that was my first milestone, which I cracked. We just went on and we became size zero and size zero became national news. It was national news then, that she became size zero through yoga and diet and to date people talk about the size zero frame she got into fashion.

The Kareena Kapoor Workout Routine
Instead of training in air-conditioned gyms, Kareena practices yoga in rooms where humidity can be custom regulated. Her daily workout session comprises intensive yoga and cardio.
- Plenty of cardio exercises such as running, biking, swimming; when shooting outdoors, she prefers going for long walks
- Pranayama, Bikram yoga, and Surya Namaskar
- Different types of asanas like Kapalbhati for relieving stress, Virabhadrasana and Parvatasana for enhancing strength of legs, Bhujangasana for strengthening the back, and Naukasana for developing firm abs
2. The Diet Saga
The six-time Filmfare Award winner was a chubby Punjabi girl at the start of her career. But Kareena impressed everyone in 2007 when she flaunted her size-zero figure by donning a bikini in the movie Tashan. Today, she is fit, fabulous and a staunch believer of eating local and healthy. Kareena’s impressive regime is what dreams are made of. She eats everything guilt-free and follows no fad rules. Nutritionist and dietician, Rujuta Diwekar, who has helped Kareena get in shape before recently shared a detailed menu of what Bebo eats in a day. From her size zero figure making waves everywhere to her increased emphasis on more holistic and healthy desi food, Kareena’s diet is always a trending topic and it is super easy to follow too.
Rujuta maintains that the first meal of the day is the most important one and should be light and filling. While Kareena prefers to workout in the mornings, her breakfast is usually something full of energy and nutrient-rich. Kareena has a handful of soaked almonds or a banana, around 9-10 am, before she starts working out. Both of these options are excellent pre-workout snacks.
With a great balance of proteins and antioxidants, Kareena’s lunch is a healthy affair. Being a vegetarian, she enjoys a bowl of curd rice, a healthy option for the summers, with papad or achaar. On other days, a plate of roti, paneer sabzi for proteins and a serving of dal is her preferred meal. She eats lunch around 12 pm, which benefits digestion greatly.
Kareena’s third meal of the day is a healthy snack, which mostly comprises a small bowl of chopped papaya which contains all helpful nutrients one needs, peanuts or roasted foxnuts (makhanas), which make for an excellent weight loss friendly snack as well. Consumed at around 2 or 3 pm, it is an easy way to fill the body up and take care of untimely cravings. She has also been papped carrying around a box of makhanas on shoots.
For tea-time, Kareena skips caffeine and instead, indulges in the goodness of locally harvested fruits that are in season, such as litchi or mango. Options like a mango milkshake, a bowl of litchi or a smaller serving of chivda (homemade roasted snack mix) are her go-to option. For days when she has a craving, Kareena likes having lemon water (with black salt and asafoetida), buttermilk, curd with dry fruits, or coconut water. All of these also help her stay hydrated throughout the day.
Kareena is a big fan of Indian food and makes sure she eats all kinds of desi superfoods, something which she has often talked of often. For dinner, according to Diwekar, Kareena usually likes to have vegetable pulao with raita, packing in good bacteria, calcium, vitamins and nourishing nutrients, an immunity-boosting pudina/palak roti with curd. On other days, it’s the usual dal, rice and sabzi. Ghee is another thing Kareena gorges on, in any form.
Before bedtime, classic haldi milk, with a pinch of nutmeg, all super good for your immunity and fighting infections, helps Kareena sleep well.
3. Fashion Queen
Just like in her movie Heroine, Kareena manages to floor her fans with her fashion sense. From her debut in Refugee to her latest style statement with a baby bump, she has cultivated looks that just keep getting better and better. Kareena’s first few years in Bollywood were all about keeping it casual. Flared pants and halter necks were her go-to looks for events. Once the Tashan phase hit, her wardrobe welcomed sultry dresses and a whole lot of shimmer. The following years saw her seamlessly flaunting sheer sarees and off-duty attire with ease. Today, her maternity style is simply aspirational. Instead of frumpy dresses, she flaunted kaftans that flattered her baby bump.
5 Kareena Kapoor Style Statements That Slay
Some of her most memorable early ensembles were a fashion-lover’s delighted journey. This sequined black Monisha Jaising maxi in 2011, worn at the premiere of Ra.One.
Her wedding outfit was a nod to the practise of wearing age-old ensembles for one’s wedding. Kareena tied the knot with Nawab of Pataudi and actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012 in an heirloom sharara. The piece was also worn by her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, for her own nikah in 1962.
Seeking comfort in pantsuits, she occasionally swapped traditional blazers with unconventional ones. Kareena gave power-dressing a new meaning with some stunning outfit choices.
Kareena Kapoor in the Sougat Paul saree at Filmfare Cover Launch in 2013 caused quite a stir. The halter neck blouse was a hit and the elegant updo was a perfect match.
One for staying active during pregnancy, Kareena’s pink Anarkali from Masaba Gupta, is maternity fashion at its best. One of the many bookmark-worthy ensembles from Kareena’s maternity closet, the actress looked ravishing as she happily posed for the paps in the flowy garment which she teamed with a pair of discreet earrings and her favourite gold flats.

4. Glowing Skin Secret
Kareena’s Instagram post with “Summer essentials: Messy bun, kaftan and homemade masks,” went viral. Tagging TV actor Nisha Sareen for recommending the “best face pack ever”, she sent the world into a frenzy trying to recreate it. The star’s skincare routine is a curious topic for sure. Chandan face pack is useful not only for minimizing and healing acne but also for eliminating and lightening scars and other skin imperfections. It also aids in the healing of any obstinate acne scars.
Kareena’s Simple DIY For Flawless Skin
Here’s Kareena’s tried and tested DIY for super clean, soft and glowing skin.
- 2 tbsp sandalwood (chandan)
- 2 drops vitamin E
- A pinch of turmeric (haldi)
- In a bowl, add sandalwood, vitamin E, turmeric and some milk to make a paste.
- Apply the paste on the face and neck.
- Leave for 20 minutes.
5. Makeup Goddess
“I love highlighting my cheekbones, so I always carry a highlighter with me,” she once confessed. From slaying makeup looks on and off-screen to making the audience fall in love with her makeup brand collaborations, Kareena has always had her makeup on point. Be it the barely-there no-makeup look or the glammed-up-to-the-gods face, all of her looks have been flawlessly stunning.
In an interview with Vogue India, she said that if there’s one makeup look she’s never bored of, it’s kohl-rimmed eyes. “I love it. Everyone has their go-to look, and that’s mine.”. Kareena likes to balance the kajal with a swipe of liner, defined brows and nude or red lips. On occasions, she chooses to pair it with an otherwise bare face. One thing this trick does for sure is that it pulls attention to the eyes without having to try too hard.
A sea salt spray is a red carpet essential, according to Kapoor Khan’s hairstylist Yianni Tsapatori. “It’s on Kareena’s hair 99% of the time that I style it. It doesn’t weigh the hair down, which is important for thinner strands. It saved us many times when we had literally no time and had to rush to get her out the door. All I have to do is spray it on dry hair, roughly curl random pieces, and then shake it out and go”, he said in an interview.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is a brand and the name brings forth a powerful and stunning image. Be it her acting skills, social media presence or personal life; Kareena manages to push the envelope just the right ways. Her journey is truly inspirational and on her birthday, TC46 wishes her many more wonderful years of inspiring us all!
