We’ve all been through phases in life where we feel burnt out. 5 Personal Habits That Aren’t Good For Your Mental Health

1. Taking Things Personally

Here’s a scenario, someone said or did something that you felt was directed towards you. Maybe this was something negative so you felt hurt. But was it really for you or was it just the reaction of another human? What we sometimes don’t understand is that a person’s actions always reflect them and not us. You don’t have to worry all the time about what other people think and you also don’t have to form opinions on other people’s actions. Taking things personally might also lead to low self-esteem. So don’t take things personally unless it provides you room to improve and doesn’t make you anxious.

2. Not Letting Go Of The Past

There is a very deep quote by the wise master Oogway from Kungfu Panda that says “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift! That is why it is called the present”. We can all agree that your life depends on what you are doing right now. The things that you are working on currently, your mindset and your surroundings at the moment matter. While there is a lot that you can take from your past, you must also let go of it after a point. Making your life all about what has happened in the past isn’t going to help you in the present or prepare you for the future.

3. Trying To Do Too Many Things

Overdoing stuff is the easiest way to reach burnout. Whether you’re constantly pushing yourself to squeeze in more work than you should or doing 2-3 things at the same time, you’re basically moving towards being overwhelmed. The best way to tackle any task is to take up one thing and complete it without any distractions. And not only while working, but also during other activities. So if you need to relax and watch a movie or read a book, try not being on your phone at the same time. Satisfying breaks are as important as productive working hours.

Keen on having an efficient and productive workday without feeling burnt out? Here’s how to go about it with ease.

4. Trying To Do Everything Perfectly

Well, this is not an alien fact that we want to be the best at everything. Giving your best is absolutely amazing as it leads you towards great opportunities. At the same time, trying to be perfect at everything can lead to you not doing anything. For example, if you want to start a blog all you have to do is write an article and post it. The more you try to perfect it, the more time you’ll take to complete it.

You don’t have to be perfect always but you need to be focused, here is how you can start practising being more focused.

5. Not Prioritizing Your Mental & Physical Health

One thing that has been talked a lot about these days is self-love. And as self-love comes in various forms the most important one is taking care of your health. You need to validate your feelings and your needs yourself. Stop ignoring when your body needs rest and create boundaries where they are necessary. A great way to feel energised is by doing some form of exercise, it can be as simple as going for a walk but you’d feel a lot better.
