A Beginner’s Guide To Hair Care

0

When the dreaded wash-day arrives, it can almost feel like a chore, one that you know you have to do, but genuinely wish you could skip. You’re known as a ‘lazy’ girl, you’d rather make a sleek, easy bun, and run to work. Or, you dry shampoo your life away if it means you get to sleep in a little longer. For all the lazy girls, here’s a guide that you can actually follow, without the hassle of too many steps in one go!

The Channel 46 caught up with Anshita Mehrotra, Founder of Fix My Curls, who discusses tips & steps you should consider an absolute must to maintain a great hair care routine without spending 3-4 hours in one go!

1. Sleep on Satin!

This is a hack that will keep frizz at bay. So, if you’re lazy about hair care, just change or wash your satin pillowcase once in 2-3 weeks but make sure to have one when you go to bed. It’ll keep static frizz away and help reduce unnecessary breakage from movement at night.

2. Use a dry shampoo on a busy day

Dry shampoo, especially the ones without alcohol in them, can keep you from forming an overly oily scalp, save time, and therefore extend your washday without any damage from usage.

On the rest of the days, keep a dry shampoo handy, or maintain protective hairstyles. Dry shampoo, especially the ones without alcohol in them, can keep you from forming an overly oily scalp, save time, and therefore extend your washday without any damage from usage. Aim to use an alcohol-free dry shampoo in case you have a sensitive scalp, and generally don’t want to use an aerosol spray-based one.

3. Use a one and done styling product instead of two!

The one and done styling product you can fall back on is always a hair mousse. It may not give you very long-lasting results, but it does go a long way in giving volume and definition to all my wavy and curly girls out there in 5 minutes!

It may not give you very long-lasting results, but it does go a long way in giving volume and definition to all my wavy and curly girls out there in 5 minutes! For anyone with straight hair that needs a little added shine, go for an oil-serum hybrid product that can moisturise but also remove any additional frizz.

4. Convert your conditioner into a leave-in cream!

Just shampooed your hair? Obviously, now it’s time for the conditioner. Rake in your conditioner and apply just a little extra than you usually do! Now when you rinse it out, don’t rinse all of it out. The leftover slight bit of conditioner will act as a moisturising base for your hair to dry much softer and silkier than it usually would! Now you can get out of the shower and not add an additional step to your routine, therefore, making it just a little faster.

5. Greasy hair? Make it seem intentional.

You simply need a flat wide brush that has soft bristles, add a little water & your natural oils will act as a lubricant for your frizz.

A lot of girls deal with overly oily hair, but lately the slicked back bun is in trend. Make your grease intentional if you can! This is every lazy girl’s dream hairstyle. You simply need a flat wide brush that has soft bristles, add a little water & your natural oils will act as a lubricant for your frizz. Comb back all your hair into a tight bun, with a middle parting. This off-duty model hairstyle is everyone’s go-to on a non-washday.

6. B12 & Biotin supplements!

Even if you don’t put in too much external effort, make the internal effort!

Can’t do actual haircare? Keep your hair shining from the inside out then! Biotin & B12 are essential for all women anyway, but can also keep your hair growing and looking healthier than usual. Even if you don’t put in too much external effort, make the internal effort! Biotin is easily available over the counter at pharmacies, have one every day with a meal for a few months and take breaks occasionally. Your nails and hair will really thank you for it!

Keep in mind that even as a lazy girl, there’s always some stuff you have to do to achieve great hair! Keep one day a week to fulfil your hair needs, especially in this rainy season. Whether it be leaving conditioner in for an extra 5 minutes, washing your hair with cold water, oiling them before the wash, or styling them, different hair has different need but they all need some TLC!
