1. Use a high-quality sunscreen: Before going outside, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Look for sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which are natural mineral sun blockers that do not harm coral reefs.

2. Reapply sunscreen regularly: Even if you use a high-quality sunscreen, it can wear off over time, especially if you are sweating or swimming. Be sure to reapply your sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you are engaging in water activities.

3. Apply an aloe vera gel: If you do get sunburned, applying an aloe vera gel can help soothe the skin and reduce inflammation. Look for gels that contain at least 90% pure aloe vera and avoid products that contain alcohol or other irritants.

4. Take cool showers: To help ease the pain and discomfort of sunburn, take cool showers or baths. Avoid hot water, which can further irritate the skin.

5. Use a moisturizer: After taking a cool shower or bath, apply a moisturizer to help hydrate and soothe your skin. Look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, or jojoba oil, which can help replenish your skin's natural oils.

6. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out, which can prevent further damage and promote healing. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, or more if you are spending time in the sun or engaging in physical activity.
