Here’s a sneak peek into 5 fashion trends spotted at the #RanAlia wedding that you should totally get inspired by to #BeALittleMore fashion-conscious than what you already are.

1. Ivory-Gold Organza Saree With Tilla Work Embroidery

To start with the showstopper of the wedding, Alia Bhatt was the quintessential Sabyasachi bride. As the designer himself enlightened us through his Instagram handle, Alia adorned a hand-dyed ivory organza saree embroidered with fine tilla work. The ensemble was perfectly complemented with an embroidered handwoven tissue veil. The bride accessorised her wedding outfit with Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery strewn with uncut diamonds and hand-strung pearls. She left her tresses in light curls, while a little blandi bindi further enhanced her cuteness. She wore dewy makeup to balance her elaborate wedding saree and jewellery.

What You Can Do

Experiment with colours, styles and materials to your heart’s content for your wedding attire. Go with the traditional red or other dark hues like Fuschia, cobalt blue, and others. Or, let your own personality shine with light pastels or ivory. For the thread work, opt for gold, like Alia, or make silver your own. Accessorise with pearls, gold, diamond, precious stones, or a combination of these – whatever catches your fancy. Keep the makeup minimalistic like the bride here or go all out with it. You can tie your hair into a bun or wear it loose.

2. Salmon Pink Organza Saree With Zari Border

For the wedding, Kareena Kapoor Khan, the groom’s cousin, was seen draped in a Manish Malhotra timeless organza saree, richly embroidered with real zari. A necklace and earrings of semi-precious stones, embellished with classic pearls, a maang tika and straight tamed hair complete the look.

What You Can Do

If you are the cousin of the bride or groom and want to stand apart with your understated style, choose a pastel saree, lehenga or gown, embellished with ornate threadwork. If sequins are your favourite, you can go all out and add glamour to your outfit with some glitterati. Pair your attire with the jewellery of your choice, whether be it chunky or dainty. If your outfit is sequinned, it’s best that you restrict your makeup to the bare minimum. Otherwise, you can explore different makeup styles and zero in on one that suits your personality and your outfit.

3. Ivory Tissue Saree With Floral Embroidery

Another cousin of Ranbir’s, Karisma Kapoor, looked drop-dead gorgeous in an ivory tissue saree with embroidered florals in orange and green. She paired the saree with a burnt orange blouse with intricate embroidery work along the borders. Karisma accessorised her saree with chandelier earrings of semi-precious stones, lined with exquisite pearls, and an ornate maang tika, and wore her hair in a bun.

What You Can Do

Tissue is one of the timeless classics that are being worn since the time of the royals. If you want a royal touch at your cousin’s wedding, tissue is something that you should seriously consider wearing. It can be embroidered with florals or other traditional patterns. what’s more, you can even wear it plain and balance it with a heavily brocaded blouse. Wear your makeup and explore a hairdo that accentuates your attire and you will be all ready to make heads turn at the wedding.

4. Gold Mandala Lehenga With A Cape Stole

The sister of the groom, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, was spotted in an absolutely stunning lehenga by the ace designer duo, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. The hand-embroidered mandala skirt in gold mirror zardozi work complemented the concept crystal and tassel blouse that was accompanied by a cape stole. Riddhima accessorised the exquisite ensemble with two layers of jewellery set in uncut diamonds and semi-precious stones. She put her hair up in a very loose, low bun.

What You Can Do

Lehenga blouses with a cape stole are quite the in thing these days and you should totally consider experimenting with it if you have a wedding event coming up. The sky’s the limit to your imagination when it comes to choosing the colour and design of the outfit. For a heavily embellished outfit, go minimalistic with your makeup and jewellery, and vice versa.

5. Teal Green Floral-Printed Saree

Alia’s childhood friend and one of her bridesmaids for the wedding, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor was seen draped in a unique teal green floral-printed saree with a broad silver border. She matched her outfit with gorgeous earrings studded with green stones, almost nude makeup, a tiny bindi, and neatly parted hair worn into a tight bun.

What You Can Do

If you want to introduce some uniqueness into an evening of glitzy zari and embroidery, this is your cue. Go completely hatke from the rest with a floral-printed saree, lehenga or gown and be ready to be the talk of the evening. Keep your makeup dewy, or explore different makeup styles. However, remember to keep your lip colour nude if you choose to go for heavy eye makeup, and vice versa. As for your hairdo, go with straight hair, or feminine curls, or tie it up in a stylish bun.
