The 22nd edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) was held between the 2nd and 4th of June at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena, of Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island. As the B-town celebs took to the green carpet at IIFA 2022, the cameras went berserk clicking the who’s who of the Hindi film industry, who’d turned up in their most resplendent avatars.

Here are 5 Bollywood divas at IIFA 2022 who grabbed eyeballs and set the fashion fever racing. So #BeALittleMore and update yourself on the trends that they set on the green carpet.

1. Nora Fatehi

Nora dazzled in oodles of oomph in an off-shoulder black dress that was slit till her shapely thighs. With sharp pointed black stilettos, a mini bag, statement necklace and other minimalistic accessories, and hair tightly pulled back into a neat bun, she looked every bit of a B-town diva. The black dress called for nude makeup, and Nora finished off her look with just that.

What You Can Do

Black is THE colour of the party, said every fashionista. And this hue will never go out of trend. Right from the Little Black Dress (LBD) popularised by none other than the ever-so-stylish Audrey Hepburn till eternity, this colour will rule the party scene always. Wear it in whatever fit and length that is ruling the roost or meets your unique style, and you are sure to make heads turn anywhere you set your foot. Experiment with A-line, fish cut, mermaid style – whichever catches your fancy and complements your body type to the T and strut out in style. As for makeup, keep it minimalist and let the black dress do all the talking. Go for brown nude shades or pink tints to complement your skin tone. Last but not the least, carry a mini eye-catching bag like Nora, which is very much in trend RN, and voila, you’re done.

2. Nargis Fakhri

Nargis shone under the arclights in her green heavily sequined gown and flaunted a plunging neckline. She wore a pair of drop dead gorgeous dangling earrings and gave the neck piece a miss to balance out her accessories. Further, she chose to tie her hair into a sleek bun and preferred to tone down her makeup to introduce an order of semblance to her whole look.

What You Can Do

When you are at a party, it’s time to bring on some bling, baby. And no amount of it is quite enough to make you look OTT. Shine to your heart’s content but, at the same time, make sure to keep your makeup and accessories minimal. If you wear an ornate pair of earrings, skip putting on a neck piece and vice versa. Keep your hair open if you so want and wear it poker straight or in curls. Or, tie it up into a clean ponytail or a messy bun.

3. Ananya Panday

Adorning a heavily embellished pristine white saree from the house of Manish Malhotra was none other than your Gehraiyaan star Ananya Panday.

Adorning a heavily embellished pristine white saree from the house of Manish Malhotra was none other than your Gehraiyaan star Ananya Panday. She stole every bit of the spotlight with her desi look, complemented with nude makeup, pearl accessories, and messy hair left open.

What You Can Do

Glitz and glamour go hand in hand. No doubt about that. And you can make the most of it with nothing other than a blingy saree to set the stage on fire. It is best to team up the saree with a blouse of the same colour and style as that of your 9-yards, so that you don’t overdo it. Let your diamond set chill at home to cut down on adding more shine to your look. Stick to pearls instead or go with the no-accessories look, if you can carry that off. As for your hair, let your choice shine this time. Wear your hair down straight or in messy curls to rock the ensemble.

4. Jacqueline Fernandez

Yet another beauty to make a blingy style statement, Jacqueline embraced the traditional 9-yards and gave it a modern twist with sequins.

Yet another beauty to make a blingy style statement, Jacqueline embraced the traditional 9-yards and gave it a modern twist with sequins. The winged eyeliner and nude brown lips were the highlights of her makeup. She carried the no-accessories look with aplomb and tied her hair up in a casually careless bun.

What You Can Do

A sequinned saree is the way to go yet again. If you don’t vibe with white, you can always explore other colours that let your personality shine – midnight blue, turquoise, fuschia, yellow, orange – anything that is so you. While the 9-yards will always remain traditional, you can give it your own unique flavour by experimenting with different styles to drape it. When there is already so much shine on what you’re donning, there is no way but to keep your makeup and hairstyle to the bare minimum. If you’re bold enough, forget about accessories and step out with a flashing smile.

5. Sarah Ali Khan

Sarah wowed the shutterbugs with an off-shoulder asymmetrical frilly black dress.

Sarah wowed the shutterbugs with an off-shoulder asymmetrical frilly black dress. Yes, yet another black dress! While the front length of the gown caressed her knees, it left a trail behind her. With minimalistic makeup, ponytailed hair and stilettos of the same colour, she let her dress enjoy all the attention.

What You Can Do

Laces are every woman’s weakness. Well, almost every woman’s. And when you’ve got an opportunity to put your best foot forward, cease the opportunity and make the best use of layered frills. Plan out the sleeves, style and length of the dress to suit your unique fashion sensibilities. When it comes to makeup, you can go for bold lips and minimalistic eye makeup or vice versa. In case you prefer colour blocking your outfit with a pop-coloured footwear, going for minimalist makeup and hair style would be a safe bet.
