A simple olive oil massage can do wonders for the skin. But mixing this ingredient with other skin-friendly ingredients can help you tackle several common skin problems. Here is how you can use olive oil for your skin! 

1. Olive Oil & Lemon Juice

While olive oil can moisturise your skin, lemon juice can help it appear brighter. Try this easy-to-make solution for spotless and glowing skin. 

What you need:

  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon

Method: 

  1. Mix lemon juice and olive oil well. 
  2. Let the mixture rest for about 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes, apply this mixture to your face. 
  4. Massage for a few minutes and then let it stay for about 25-30 minutes. 
  5. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.
  6. For best results, use this remedy 2-3 times a week. 

2. Olive Oil & Egg Face Mask

If skin-friendly DIY face masks are your thing, here is a fantastic remedy for you. This mask contains the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits of honey, the goodness of vitamin C from orange zest, the skin hydrating properties of olive oil and the nourishing benefits of egg. 

What you need:

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Freshly grated orange zest – ½ teaspoon
  • Raw honey – 1 teaspoon
  • Vitamin E oil – 1 capsule
  • 1 egg white if you have oily skin or 1 egg yolk if you have oily skin

Method:

  1. Mix olive oil, orange zest and honey in a bowl. 
  2. Add in the vitamin E oil and mix again. 
  3. Add the egg white/yolk and blend the mixture well. 
  4. With the help of a makeup brush, apply this mixture to your face and neck. Make sure to wash your face before applying the mask. 
  5. Let it stay for about 20 minutes before washing it off with warm water.
  6. Finish with a moisturiser. 
  7. You may use this mask up to 2 times a week.

3. Olive Oil and Coconut Oil Moisturiser

The hydrating and moisturising benefits offered by olive oil make it an excellent moisturiser base. Use this simple remedy to make your moisturiser for dry and damaged skin. 

What you need:

  • Olive oil – â…“ cup 
  • Beeswax pellets or grated beeswax – 2 tablespoons  
  • Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Essential oil (any) – 3-4 drops
  • Vitamin E oil – about ½ teaspoon

Method:

  1. Make a double boiler by taking water in a pan and then setting another pot on top of it. 
  2. Put all the ingredients in the pan on top and let them melt. 
  3. Keep the heat on medium to low. Let the ingredients heat gradually. Stir frequently. 
  4. Once the ingredients have melted completely, remove the pan from the heat and pour out the mixture into a small jar. 
  5. Let it cool for some time.
  6. Your DIY olive oil moisturiser is ready! Use this on dry or chapped skin regularly and let it work its magic! 

4. Olive Oil & Vinegar

Vinegar is a powerful ingredient that can help get rid of toxins from your skin and help maintain its pH level. Use this overnight skincare solution regularly and wake up with clear, youthful and radiant skin. 

What you need:

  • Vinegar – ¼ cup
  • Water – ¼ cup
  • Olive oil – ½ cup

Method: 

  1. Put all the ingredients in a clean, dark-coloured, glass bottle and give it a good mix. 
  2. Apply a few drops of this mixture before going to bed and massage in circular motions for a few minutes.
  3. Let it stay overnight.

5. Olive Oil Balm 

Cracked heels are painful, inconvenient and annoying. This home remedy for cracked heels contains super moisturising olive and coconut oil along with magnesium oil and peppermint essential oil.

What you need:

  • Coconut oil – ¼ cup
  • Olive oil – ¼
  • Magnesium oil – ¼ cup
  • Beeswax – 3 tablespoons
  • Peppermint essential oil – a few drops

Method:

  1. Heat beeswax, coconut oil and olive oil over medium- to – low heat till the ingredients melt and mix. Set aside and let the mixture cool down. 
  2. Once it reaches room temperature, pour the mixture into a blender jar.
  3. Now start bleeding as you gradually add in the magnesium oil. Make sure to do this slowly.
  4. When the magnesium mixes well with the rest of the ingredients, add the peppermint essential oil.
  5. Whip the mixture well to combine. 
  6. Your olive oil balm is ready. You can store the mixture in your refrigerator for about 2 months. 
  7. Use it after every bath for the best results. 

6. Turmeric & Olive Oil

The skin benefits of haldi are no secret. Other than possessing anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it also helps give your skin that special glow. The lactic acid in yoghurt is good for skin lightening and brightening. Mix it up with raw milk and olive oil, and you get a highly effective mask for radiant and glowing skin. 

What you need:

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Plain yoghurt – 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon

Method:

  1. Mix the ingredients in a bowl to make a thick paste.
  2. Apply this mixture to a clean and dry face.
  3. Let it stay for about 15- 20 minutes.
  4. Wash off with lukewarm water and follow with a moisturizer. 
  5. If you end up with turmeric stains on your face, use a mild facial cleanser to clean it up. 

7. Olive Oil, Castor Oil & Tea Tree Oil

Mix olive oil with 2 other DIY skin care hot favourites, i.e. castor oil and tea tree oil and you will get the perfect solution for soft and supple skin. 

What you need: 

  • Olive oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Castor oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Tea tree oil – a few drops

Method:

  1. Mix the ingredients to form a solution.
  2. Use this mixture to gently massage your face for about 5 minutes. 
  3. Let it stay for another 5 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
  4. Follow this remedy 3-4 times a week for the best results. 

8. Baking Soda & Olive Oil

Baking soda is believed to be packed with anti-bacterial properties. It gently exfoliates the skin and also helps neutralise its pH level. It is recommended to carry out a patch test before trying this remedy since baking soda may not suit your skin type. 

What you need:

  • Extra virgin olive oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda – 1 teaspoon
  • Honey – ½ teaspoon

Method:

  1. Mix the ingredients and apply the solution to damp face and neck. Make sure to use circular motions while applying the mixture.
  2. Let the solution stay for about 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse your face with cool water and follow with a moisturiser. 
  4. Use this remedy once a week. 

9. Olive Oil & Shea Butter
